AIDP June Paris meetings postponed to September
Dear Members, Dear Friends,
The whole world is now facing a tremendous challenge and many of the AIDP members, us included, are living under confinement rules. We are all struggling with different problems in our professional and private lives that the pandemic and the reaction to it created. First of all, we wish you all the strength you may need in these difficult times.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected also the works of the AIDP. Given the volatility of the situation and restrictions imposed, it does not seem feasible to maintain the usual June dates of our annual meeting held in Paris. So the meetings which were supposed to take place on 5-6 June are postponed and will be held according to the usual schedule in Paris on 25 and 26 September 2020. Convocations will be sent out in July.
Nevertheless, in order to secure that the AIDP agenda progresses, we will hold virtual meetings of the Executive Committee, the Scientific Committee and the Committee of the Revue in June to discuss the most urgent matters, especially as regards the agenda for the new cycle 2019-2024. Convocations for these meetings will be sent out very soon to the members of these bodies.
There is a growing sentiment that the COVID-19 pandemic and the reaction to it will have lasting effect on many aspects of life around the globe. Already some measures to fight the pandemic – as necessary as they may be – have evoked human rights questions, some of which might be of high interest for an Association like ours. We shall discuss at a later point potential need for initiatives around these problems.
In the meantime, we send you our best wishes,
John Vervaele (President)
Stanislaw Tosza (Secretary General)
